Warzone clip settings that look clean
You don't need a pro editing suite to make clean Warzone clips. A few settings make most of the difference, and the rest is taste. Here's what to set, and why.
Shape and size
| Where it goes | Shape | KILLCUT export |
|---|---|---|
| TikTok, Reels, Shorts | 9:16 vertical | 720 × 1280 (Pro: 1080 × 1920) |
| Instagram feed, X | 1:1 square | 720 × 720 (Pro: 1080 × 1080) |
| YouTube, Discord | 16:9 landscape | 1280 × 720 (Pro: 1920 × 1080) |
Vertical is the default for short form. Pick the shape before you add captions, because text placement changes with the frame.
Length
Shorter clips are easier to watch all the way through, and a clip people finish and rewatch tends to get shown to more people. Aim to cut every clip down to the action plus a second or two of reaction. If you turn on slow mo replay, remember it adds about five seconds.
Frame rate and format
- KILLCUT exports at 30 frames per second, which every app accepts and keeps files small.
- Chrome and Edge save MP4, the safest format for every app. Firefox saves WebM. If an app won't take a WebM, render the clip again in Chrome.
- Rendering happens in real time, so a 15 second clip takes about 15 seconds. Keep the tab in front while it works.
Punch ins
Punch ins are quick zooms on the kill. Medium works for most clips. Heavy suits single big moments like a snipe. Use Light if your clip has lots of kills close together, so it doesn't feel shaky. Too many punch ins in a row lose their impact, so remove the weak ones.
Slow mo replay
Save it for the shot that deserves a second look: the flick, the long range snipe, the last kill of a wipe. KILLCUT replays the moment around your first punch in, so move that punch to the best kill if you want a different replay.
Captions and hook
- Hook: three to five words, all about the moment. “1V4 ON REBIRTH” beats “crazy clip.”
- Captions: short lines, big text. The Punch style reads well over busy gameplay. Box works when the background is bright.
- Emojis: one per caption is plenty.
- Placement: lower third is the safe default. Top works when your facecam isn't up there.
Audio
Your clip uses the original game and mic audio. If your mic is drowned out in fights, fix it at the source in your recording software, because that's where you have real control over the mix. During slow mo replay, the audio slows down too, which gives the moment a heavier feel.
A solid default setup
- 9:16, Cam · Game · Captions layout, gameplay zoom 0 percent
- Facecam height around 30 percent
- Punch in Medium, slow mo replay on for the best clips
- Punch caption style, Medium size, lower third
- Gamertag in the top or bottom corner, watermark on
With Pro, save that as a preset and every new video starts ready to go. Slow mo, extra caption styles and presets are Pro features.
Try it on your own footage. Open KILLCUT, drop in a match, and you'll have your first clip in a few minutes. It's free and nothing gets uploaded.
